Lessons will cover common online threats

The programme will teach students how to protect their personal information and use the internet safely. Lessons will cover phishing, smishing, social engineering scams, cyberbullying, online grooming and online dating scams. Students will also learn how to create stronger passwords and identify suspicious online activity. INTIC will provide specialists in data protection, digital law and online safety to support the programme.

Helping students stay safer online

INTIC President Lourino Chemane said more young people are using digital platforms every day. He said students need to understand the risks that come with sharing information online. He said learning how to spot scams and protect personal data can help reduce online fraud and abuse.

Programme to reach more schools

The programme will begin in selected schools before expanding to other provinces. According to INTIC, the aim is to give students practical knowledge they can use when using social media, messaging apps and other online services.
