Telkom has appointed new board chairman

Mvuleni Geoffrey Qhena has been appointed as a non-executive director and chairman of Telkom's board. Qhena's nomination as director takes effect on March 27, 2023, and his duties as chair begin on April 1. This comes after Telkom stated on November 23, 2022, that Sello Moloko had resigned as chair and will leave the board

Mvuleni Geoffrey Qhena has been appointed as a non-executive director and chairman of Telkom’s board.

Qhena’s nomination as director takes effect on March 27, 2023, and his duties as chair begin on April 1.

This comes after Telkom stated on November 23, 2022, that Sello Moloko had resigned as chair and will leave the board by March 31, 2023.

Qhena was the previous CEO of South Africa’s Industrial Development Corporation (IDC).

He is also a director of Investec and Exxaro Resources. He also serves as chairman of Exxaro.

Qhena has an Honours Degree in Accounting Science and is a SAICA-accredited Chartered Accountant (South Africa).

Mr Qhena’s appointment as Telkom’s chair includes his chairing the group’s nominations committee and serving on the pay committee.
