Microsoft has added a new feature called “Edge for Gamers” to the latest update of its Edge browser’s Canary channel. This feature is currently being tested internally by the company and is being quietly expanded. It can be found in the appearance options within Edge Settings, and it provides several enhancements for PC gamers.

The game home page, which aims to improve the overall gaming experience, is a key component of “Edge for Gamers.” Additionally, the feature includes sidebar apps designed specifically for gamers, such as Twitch and Discord Windows apps. When the “Edge for Gamers” switch is enabled, these apps are automatically loaded in the sidebar. This convenient integration enables gamers to easily stream their gameplay or interact with other players without the need to launch separate applications.

Enabling the “Edge for Gamers” mode also takes users to the themes section of the add-ons store. This makes it easier to find, buy, and download game-related themes, giving the browser a more personalized feel.

“Improve your PC gaming experience with Productivity Mode,” is another notable toggle. When enabled, this mode reduces Edge’s CPU usage, thereby improving game performance by optimizing CPU resources. According to Techradar, enabling this mode has no significant impact on the overall browsing experience.

In summary, the “Edge for Gamers” mode in Microsoft Edge introduces a gaming-focused homepage, sidebar apps, customization options, and a gaming efficiency mode. These features are intended to improve the user experience for gamers both during gaming sessions and throughout their browsing activities. Although still in the early stages of development, it will be interesting to see if Microsoft eventually makes this new setting available to all Edge users.

As the development of “Edge for Gamers” progresses, it is worth keeping an eye out for further updates from Microsoft regarding its availability to a broader user base. Gamers can expect an improved browsing experience that is tailored to their specific gaming needs, resulting in a more immersive and efficient gaming environment.
