Huawei, a Chinese company with a global reach, has asked all third-party partners to remove the Huawei logo and brand from their products. While this practice may be advantageous for the partners, it can negatively impact Huawei’s reputation. As a result, the company has taken steps to protect its brand from false advertising and misuse.

Founder and Chairman Ren Zhengfei signed the announcement after the 2022 annual results, urging all Huawei officials to abide by the new guidelines. He stated that the Huawei brand could not be used publicly by any vehicle or design, including products such as smartphones, cars, and other electronic products. Huawei’s partner, AITO, removed all references to Huawei and its logo from car promotions, including the names of their cars.

Marketing teams are no longer allowed to use the Huawei name before the names of their cars, and Huawei’s rotating chairman, Xu Zhijun, warned that the company would take appropriate action against individuals, companies, and partners who abuse the Huawei brand. Recently, a Weibo blogger revealed that Huawei had instructed all Huawei stores to remove promotional materials for smartphones and other third-party stores under the Huawei Smart selection category.

While some phone makers may still have the right to use Huawei’s designs, they are not allowed to use the Huawei name in any sales or promotional slogans. Huawei Smart selection, an important part of the company’s all-scenario smart life strategy, is a smart home ecosystem.

Huawei not only gives partners the right to use its designs but also markets their products, such as the Hi Nova brand, a China Post Communication Equipment brand. Huawei markets Hi Nova phones on its online store, VMall, because they are licensed, allowing China Post to reserve all rights to the phone.

By removing the Huawei logo and brand from their products, both Huawei and its partners can benefit. This move will improve the safety of the Huawei brand, avoiding misuse by individuals while also protecting Huawei’s partners. Given the controversies surrounding Huawei, keeping partnerships away from the public eye can help protect partners, especially those with relationships with US manufacturers, who may be affected by the ban on Huawei.

In conclusion, Huawei’s decision to remove its logo and brand from third-party partner products is a step in the right direction to safeguard the Huawei brand’s reputation and prevent false advertising. It will also protect its partners from negative consequences in the future.
