Ex-Cell C and MacDonalds Chief Financial Officer joins Zafar Mahomed 
Johannesburg Stock Exchange-listed fishing giant, Oceana Group has snapped up Zafar Mahomed as its chief financial officer designate.
The appointment of Mahomed is effective from November 01 and the company, Oceana Group, has confirmed the news.
According to Moneyweb, the fishing company noted in a media statement on Wednesday that Mahomed will assume office as its CFO and executive director of its board from 1 February 2023.
Oceana Group said the timeframe will give Mahomed time for a smooth transition and handover from Ralph Buddle who has served as interim CFO since February.
Formerly with Cell C and MacDonalds as CFO, Mahomed, boasts more than 25 years of finance and business experience across major industries.
Furthermore, his business expertise includes his experience in multinational and listed companies, and international brands ranging from telecommunications, manufacturing, retail, financial services, real estate, food, medical devices, hospitality, and mining equipment.
“In addition to the above skills and expertise that Mr. Mahomed brings to the group, he has a wealth of multinational finance experience with particular expertise in mergers and acquisitions, strategy and development, property management, investor relations, change management, and business turnaround skills,” Oceana Group said, adding that Mahomed is also a skilled negotiator.
“I am excited and proud to be joining a group with such a long history and I am looking forward to contributing to its future success.
“The Oceana board extends its sincere thanks and appreciation to Mr. Buddle for stepping in to assist the board and the group on an interim basis and note[s] that he was a significant role player in driving a positive culture and stabilising the business during recent months.”
The business administrator holds a qualification as a chartered accountant (SA) and boasts a Master of Business Leadership (MBL) degree from the Unisa School of Business Leadership, a Bachelor of Commerce honours degree from Unisa, and a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of KwaZulu-Natal.
