When it comes to home internet options without fibre, Axxess has the most budget-friendly choice for 100Mbps uncapped plans in SA

In the realm of fixed-wireless packages offering speeds of 100Mbps or higher in South Africa, Axxess has managed to rise to the top as the provider of the two most affordable options, according to a MyBroadband analysis.

As much as fibre is recognized for its reliability and affordability per Mbps, it doesn’t cover the entire country, prompting residents to seek alternative internet connections. Axxess takes the lead with its uncapped Standard 5G package at R449, offering best-effort speeds up to 500Mbps and a 300GB FUP threshold.

Axxess’ 100Mbps uncapped LTE package on MTN’s network follows closely at R549 per month, featuring speeds up to 100Mbps and a 400GB threshold before throttling to 2Mbps. For a slightly higher cost of R699 per month, Supersonic’s Home 5G Lite package, also on MTN’s network, provides best-effort speeds until a 400GB threshold is met. Axxess offers a 200Mbps uncapped LTE package for R749 per month with a 600GB FUP, while the most affordable option with a 1TB threshold is Afrihost’s Pure 5G 100Mbps at R849 per month.

Rain stands out as the only provider without an FUP, offering the Rain One package for R995 per month, featuring best-effort speeds and including two 4G SIMs for mobile phones. In contrast, Telkom’s fixed-5G packages are among the priciest, requiring a two-year contract. The 100Mbps fixed-5G connection, with a 1TB FUP threshold, is priced at R1,129 per month over 24 months, while the 5G Indoor Internet Unlimited package, offering best-effort speeds and a 2TB FUP cap, costs R1,229 per month over 24 months.
