Samsung’s mobile division has moved away from grand-scale unveilings and is no longer reserving major phone announcements for the weeks leading up to Mobile World Congress. The upcoming Unpacked event is scheduled for January 17, just over a week after CES concludes. If history is any indication, this event will likely introduce Samsung’s new flagship phone, the Galaxy S24.

Last year’s launch in early February showcased three primary versions of the S23, accompanied by several Galaxy Book laptops. True to form, leaks about the S24 series have been circulating for some time.

Details suggest that the S24, S24+, and S24 Ultra will continue Samsung’s design legacy, with screen sizes expected at 6.2, 6.7, and 6.8 inches, respectively. The standard S24 and S24+ are rumored to feature three rear cameras, while the Ultra version may boast four, including an impressive 200-megapixel sensor.

Drawing inspiration from the Galaxy Note lineage, the Ultra model retains distinctive square edges and offers S Pen functionality. Additionally, the high-end variant might introduce a titanium variant, echoing features seen in previous iPhone models.

Despite the anticipation around its debut with Qualcomm’s advanced Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip, leaked pricing indicates potentially competitive rates in Europe, signaling affordability for a broader audience.

The forthcoming event will take place in the South Bay, commencing at 10 a.m. PT, with streaming options available. Samsung is also offering a $50 “reserve credit” for preorders made by January 16, allowing enthusiasts to secure their device ahead of its official debut.
