Mobile phone maker Nokia & Africa Data Centres sign partnership deal in Cape Town

One of the leading telecommunications companies, Nokia, has partnered with Africa Data Cantres in a deal that was signed in Cape Town on Thursday.

The Finnish multinational telecommunications firm, Nokia, has reached a deal with Africa Data Centres to enable the cloud-neutral data centre provider.

The deal between Nokia and Africa Data Centre will offer high-capacity interconnection services to its customers across multiple African countries.

Both companies, Nokia and Africa Data Centre, made the announcement during the AfricaCom 2022 event in Cape Town.

BusinessTech Africa has since discovered that as part of the agreement, the mobile telecommunications manufacturer Nokia will provide it’s 7250 IXR interconnect router platforms with 400G-enabled interfaces to Africa Data Centres, billed as the continent’s largest provider of interconnected, carrier- and cloud-neutral data centre facilities.

ITWeb has it that Africa Data Centres is part of the Cassava Technologies group of companies, and has made a staggering investment of $500 million that will see it build 10 interconnected, cloud- and carrier-neutral data centres across 10 countries in the African continent.

“We selected Nokia because its solution provides MEF 3.0-compliant connectivity, giving our customers scalable, reliable, and secure access to their applications, data, and workloads – wherever they are located.

“The automation enabled by the Nokia NSP simplifies service implementation and deployment, allowing our customers to create flexible, scalable, and reliable ICT infrastructure more easily and cost-effectively.”

Nokia’s senior VP for Webscale Business EMEA, Manolo Ortiz said their company seeks to create mission-critical networking solutions across mobile, fixed, and cloud networks, to help organisations build a secure communications infrastructure.
